Seasonings for shrimp
I said that I was going to cook shrimp on the grill yesterday for dinner, but due to a tragic event that befell my nalgene water bottles, I didn't feel like it.
Tonight is different. I will be cooking 2 pounds of shrimp and most likely freezing half. I don't want to do all one seasoning, but need some suggestions. So far, I am going to do Old Bay (of course), garlis, and possibly taco seasonings. Mmm grilled shrimp tacos! Any other suggestions? |

Jamacian Jerk on Skinps is great! You can make your own if you have the time and put on a paste or buy a paste at the store.
A few other ideas are to soak the shrimp in a combo of lime juice and Habanero Peppers for about 30 min before you put them on the grill. Grill them with wooden skewers, you can get them anywhere, just be sure you soak them in water for about an hour before you put them on. season with salt and pepper and cook for no more than 2 or 3 min on the direct heat. I could go on and on... |

I like to marinate peeled shrimp in barbecue sauce (Stubb's is my favorite!) with lemon, olive oil, and crushed red pepper. Super tasty.

I have jerk seasoning, so I can use that. Why didn't I think of the simple salt and pepper??
Marinate in the BBQ? I usually just brush it, but this sounds good, too. I have some from Quaker Steak and Lube I can use. Maybe have some pineapple on the skewer, too! Thanks for the suggestions |

Like I was saying, shrimp is the fruit of the sea....You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sauté it....There's shrimp kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo, pan fried, deep fried, stir fried, pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger and a shrimp sandwich.
Crude oil marinade is good, too.

Actually it is Carolina shrimp. No oil up here, yet. I ended up doing Spicy BBQ, Salt and Pepper, Old Bay, and Jerk seasoning. They were all good, but I think the jerk seasoning has lost some of its potency...time to throw it out. |
