Nov 6th, 2017 : Beepocalypse

You’ve heard of the Apocalypse, right?
Well this is the Beepocalypse.
There was a lot of buzz in Australia about it
Quote:
A cloud of bees three storeys high made themselves at home during the lunch rush on Castlereagh Street, as shocked people ducked for cover.
Witnesses said the swarm were buzzing around buildings before eventually settling on a parked motorcycle, where their queen had settled.

Quote:
Vicky Brown, who runs courses in beekeeping, eventually came to the rescue after one of her students alerted her to the chaos.
"I found the queen, you find her and put her in a cage and the rest of the bees follow her inside," Ms Brown said. "They still thought she was on the motorbike for a while, it took me about an hour to put them all in a box.
"Swarms are actually quite passive, when they're in a swarm they're homeless and they feel really vulnerable and they're less likely to sting.

I've seen several bee swarms over the years. They are really impressive, but as pointed out pretty harmless.
In most of the ones I've seen and read about some asshole immediately reaches for the flit, so to speak.
Spraying with soapy water, insecticide, fire extinguishers, etc. are common.
If your are allergic, by all means flee, otherwise enjoy the show until a pro shows up.

Flee. That's what I'd do.

I hoped that the bike that got swarmed was a Monarch.
I Googled "bee swarm motorcycle" images and found that there must be some apian affinity at work.
The bike was a Mercury.

She isn't worried about getting stung, according to her outfit...
