Close. - It's amazing to sit on top of a hill and look down on fighter planes - usually in pairs - going through , even seeing the pilots and tourists waving at them.

I spent some time at RAF Fairford but there were no mountains around there so it must be in the North.

ok, more diffcult than I had thought. - It's the Lake District (yes, it's in the north of England). The town is Keswick and the lake is Derwent Water. The F-15 I caught next to Buttermere, a lake nearby.

So here's something easier I should hope:
