Small turnout this year, only 52 trick-or-treaters. In years with nicer weather it's been almost twice that.

The adults always called it mischief night. We teens didn't because we didn't want to reinforce that notion in their heads.

We had 9 small groups. Probably about 30 kids total.
Turned off the lights after the group of rude kids with overflowing buckets came through at 8:30. I imagine the kids don't start the night off rude, but as their buckets get fuller, they get greedier and appreciate each additional treat less, and the rudeness and entitlement comes out. |

[humorous drift] I have a buddy who has the last name of Reece. He has 6 kids, all grown, now. We still refer to them as Reece's Pieces. [/humorous drift]

I give out the same thing very year, six fun size candy bars neatly placed in a sealed Ziploc snack size bag. They're the candy bars I prefer and liked to get when I was a kid. The treats with their popularity ranking IAW post #2 above:
1....Reese's Peanut Butter Cup 5....Snickers 12. 3 Musketeers 28. Hershey's Milk Chocolate 43. Mounds ......York Peppermint Patty (unranked) Couple of years ago, a girl (about 9-10 y.o.) looked down into her sack at the treats I had dropped into it and said - "You put them in a bag."; then, kind of thinking out loud said - "That way everybody gets the same amount." then she exclaimed - "YOU'RE SO SMART!"  I got the impression she was perhaps feeling a bit shortchanged that Halloween. |

It was cold and we only had about 80 -had candy for 100, some left.
Night before in Detroit is Devil's Night. Mischief night to me is the night before Guy Fawkes' when kids are stealing anything burnable to make their bonfires.....

 ) pre-teens. The little kids weren't bothered in the slightest, older sibs held the younger's hand on the pretense that the younger one might be afraid Unusual quantity of tiny babies this year. Like in slings, not even strollers. Methinks the parents were having that "shit, we're old, all this responsibility, wish we were still young enough to TorT can't afford to buy candy to hand out, oh wait... this is baby's first halloween...." kind of a thing -like when dads freed from the turmoil of newbornness for the first time rush out any but complex Lego kits.......
