Triana now called DSCOVR

Today, another legacy of George Jr will finally be disposed of. In contempt for science that investigates Global Warming, the Triana satellite was canceled (along with many others that do science). Triana was for monitoring solar winds, detecting Corona Mass Ejections, and perform earth atmospheric observations. It was recommended by Al Gore. That and that it did earth atmosphere observations got it canceled. Extremism is about hate and not about the advancement of mankind.

The bird was removed from storage and refurbished under the name DSCOVR. It will be located at the Lagrange point where it can provide earth with a 15 to 60 minute warning of incoming CMEs. We need this to configure power grids in a stable manner and reconfigure satellites to withstand the blast. Only ACE, launched in 1997 when government promoted science, provides this critically important information.

Fortunately that bird has survived long after its life expectancy. ACE was expected to end in 2002. It required replacement when George Jr was undermining science and the advancement of mankind using political rhetoric. The replacement, DSCOVR, will be launched (hopefully) today using something that George Jr extremists hated. A SpaceX rocket (Elon Musk) launched by the US Air Force will hopefully get this bird up and working - 13 years after ACE should have expired.

More

BTW also notice who does , leads, or inspires so much of the science. Immigrants. Just another reason why extremists also hate immigrants.

Launched "today" as in relatively soon, or today-today? How long will it take to get to the L1 point and start observing?

NASA was game to build and launch Triana, but Roger Launius says the space agency officials weren't crazy about the idea of a satellite that only had one instrument on board. Launius, now associate director of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, was NASA's chief historian when Gore proposed Triana. "They certainly wanted to make it a more scientifically viable project than, maybe, was envisioned initially by Mr. Gore," Launius says. Tell the entire story. Al's original idea didn't involve any meaningful science.

That one instrument did many functions. All science people so wanted it that is was ready for launch when it was cancelled. When wackos were replaced by moderates in government, suddenly that sattellite had a purpose again. Extremists would promote that lie to protect their credibility.

Triana was only one of a full constellation of satellites that were canceled by George Jr extremists. Most all of our earth observation satellites, so critical to weather forecasting, fishery observations, geology research, and a long list of other science, are well beyond their life expectancy. Most of them were supposed to be replaced in the early 2000 when wacko extremists canceled them all. Only for one reason. Each canceled bird might do science on global warming.

The Tirana satellite was finished, paid for ($100 million), and ready to launch when wacko extremists canceled it. No way around that reality no matter how wacko extremists attempt to spin it.

Another research satellite suffered similar political extremists revenge: Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer. As discussed in Quantum Leap.

And in Mars: One Way.

I believe this bird will launch at 1530 hours eastern on a SpaceX Falcon rocket. Probably can be watched on NASA TV.
