@ Wolf: they're the names we've given them. Carrot's show name is Majikcharms Amadeus, because he's a Majikcharms beardie Not sure what Merlot's showname is. I think they all begin with A though.
Carrot's full name is Carrot Pilausson. He's sort of named for Carrot Ironfoundersson from the Discworld books.

I loved Carrot from Discworld, too, although I'd probably be more likely to name a dog Vimes. Or Slash-Me-Own-Throat Dibbler.

I was working on my buddy's computer last night, and didn't hear a mutual friend arrive. Suddenly there's a puppy about 4 or 5 weeks old sitting on my shoulder. About the same size, shape, and fur as Carrot, but white with two black patches covering the ears and sides of the head. What a sweetheart.
The friend is an animal control officer, and the puppy had been dumped at the SPCA. She had brought it home to her zoo for the night.

This thread has a serious shortage of Carrot photos. I can only presume the cute overload has shorted Dana's brain and/or internet connection.

My youngest has a "7 dog theory". She thinks everyone should have 7 dogs fairly spaced in age so as the oldest dies a puppy steps in...

Have one older dog and one younger dog. Older dog dies, replace with puppy.

Ha! I haz interwebz again.
Just a couple of pics and a quicjk update for now, as am knackered and it's late! Ok. Carrot has now been here for 8 days. The journey back was a long one for him and Merlot and at a point quite near home, he decided he'd had enough of being in the puppy pen and when nobody listened to his pleas he threw the biggest tantrum evah and bit his way through the zip door, jailbreaking himself and his brother to freedom (back seat). First night back was a nightmare. He'd had a long longtrip and really didn;t like the pen we'd built. Some pups like the enclosed thing, some freak out. He freaked. Couldn;t follow the guidance and ignore him because he was teetering on the top of the pen wall, clinging on with his front paws, rear paws scrabbling for purchase to try and lever himself up and over. At one point I realised he was taking a run up and leaping. Next day we bought a proper crate. He quite likes it til the door closes. We are now sleeping most of the night through, with just a few minutes of crying/trilling/howling/enraged muttering when I first close the door. he is a handful, but he's also gorgeous. Most of the time he just wants everyone to be happy. The rest of the time he wants to chew my sofa and fireplace. he is teething. Very early to be teething. Last couple of days he's seemed a litle off colour to me. last night he didn't eat his supper. This morning he didn't really want to play. Had zero interest in food. Then gacked up a bunch of liquid gunk. Off to the vets go we. He has a temperature, though it wasn't dangerously high. He's had a shot of antibiotics and anti inflammatory, and i've got some gunk to put in his food. Oh, poor baby. The vet visit. I just thank god I decided to take him to the vets last friday for a check-up/friendly vet meeting. I nearly didn't. Really glad today wasn;t his firt trip to the vets here. First, the nasty man shoved a thermometer up his bottom. He squealed. Then he had two injecttions. First one he squealed. Second one, vet said would sting, and he really cried. And kept crying. It was horrible. He's eaten a couple of meals since then, and had a couple of plays. But he's very sleepy even for a puppeh :p Anyways. Other than that he's wonderful. He's bright as the proverbial button. Loves television. He climbs and explores. Unfortunately he doesnt have a particularly refined understanding of scale, and has to be prevented from superman leaps off tall buildings. He does occasionally throw a paddy if he doesnt get his own way, which is hysterically funny, though I try not to show that. Assortment of pics. Note the prominence of the fireplace in Carrot pics. He loves the fireplace. And the fake coals. I have to stop him trying to get those off. He also likes lickig the tiles and trying to get his teeth into the grouting. But most of all, it's his favouritest place to nap. Must buy fireguard if i am ever to use the fire for its intended purpose again. Awwwwwwwww...
I read the text and thought, what a handful, it would drive me nuts. Then I saw the pictures and forgave him everything. But with all that soft fresh carpet, he wants to lie on cold hard tiles? Whatever.
