I think it's apple crumble pie.

I did make a lemon meringue cake once, but it wasn't like that. I just make a cake, split it and filled it with lemon filling then 'iced' it with meringue. I used a blowtorch tool to make the meringue on the outside look how it does on a pie.

It was very good.

Looking at the pics on the site, the pastry in some of the shots looks horrible. Too thin and dense.

I dunno. I'm with Ali. Just why?

I feel slightly overfaced when presented with a generous slice of gateaux...that makes me want to gag.

Interesting although I'm not quite interested. I'll try a slice if you offer. But for me to make it, that's alright.

I like the idea of a cherry pie baked in a dark chocolate cake. Kinda like black forest cake, but easier.

How do you make a Black Forest Cake then?
Here it's just dark chocolate cake, filled with cream and topped with cream and cherries.

Far easier than making a chocolate cake, making a pie, then putting one inside the other and still having to top it!

I'm talking really Quick and Simple...buying a box cake mix and a cherry pie and putting them together. A real black forest cake made from scratch is much more complex and better tasting. That's why I said 'kinda'.
