gaming consoles

I'm sure there's a thread dealing with this subject but I can't be bothered to find it.

I am thinking of investing in a gaming console to keep me entertained when the TV service isn't available and I get sick of the PC. But which system?

I hear that there's really not much difference these days. I'm not really interested in MMOs or joining the larger gaming community, just playing by myself is fine.

I haven't owned one of these things since the Atari 2600 so I'm very out of date on specs and title availability. I don't even know what I like to play anymore. I always liked arcade games and maybe a FPS or two.

Thoughts? Suggestions for game titles? Mitch? Isn't this one of your specialties?

Thanks

Brian

Playstation 3 has Blu-Ray, which is nice. The "Uncharted" games are excellent single-player games.

It's the only console I've got, so I can't really give a comparison.

I suspect you'll find that they all have adequate specs. Your best bet is to go to metacritic click on each of the platforms and see which has the kind of games you think you're interested in.

PS-3 is what we have. The Blu-ray option might be nice to have while you are without cable.

When I bought ours I also got 5 blu-ray movies for free!

If you have Blu-Ray, you can get Planet Earth on Blu-Ray. That may be worth the cost in itself.
