Good news: I tested it with the back of my hand first.

Bad news: The fence was electrified.

I found a great new author -googled a few authors I enjoyed, came up with this one, ordered a couple of his books from the library, devoured them with glee, went back to find more books. He only wrote two

Good news: Another day of freedom! (i.e., Labor Day)

Bad news: I'm basically stuck at home now, because my car suddenly is running HOT. You don't think it could be related to the "preventive maintenance" water pump replacement 2 weeks ago, do you?

Good thing I've stocked up on flu medicine!

Good news: Today is Labor Day and it is like any Sunday at work.

Bad news: It never stops people from coming to the hospital.

Good News: Classicman is still here
Bad News: He totally failed on the concept of a "good news, bad news" post

Good news: I was almost finished rinsing the soap off anyway.

Bad news: Thats a #@%&ing White Tail Spider crawling towards me in the shower!!!!

Good news: officially, the venom is not too dangerous.

Bad news: they have a reputation for casing arachnoid necrosis (flesh rotting, maybe to due to a bacteria in their mandibles).

Good news: Immoutahere!

Bad news: well, bad for spider.

Good news
A colleague has moved into another position. I expressed an interest in taking on extra hours to cover her work. I work 20 hours a week and so did she. School hours do not equal 40 hours a week, but I knew I would get extra if I was accepted. I was!

I have a different child on the autism spectrum to work with in the afternoons, which can only broaden my experience, challenge me more, allow me to work with another teacher (I've worked with her previously and she is very supportive) and basically make a difference in another child's life. YAY!

Bad news
The school has managed the overlap by cutting out my lunchtime supervision.
I now have 1 hour 15 minutes lunch break.
I've gone from working 09.00 - 13.30
To working 09.00 - 15.15
But only gained 5 hours paid work per week.

In truth, this is a typical working week for a TA. So I can't complain.
I just hadn't thought it through and assumed I would continue my lunchtime duties and therefore be up to 28-29 hours a week.

I'll get past it. I nearly am now.
It was just a shock to get the new contract this morning (it was agreed verbally yesterday afternoon) and realise I was only effectively being given one hour a day extra.

Well, congratulations on the extra hours. Sorry the schedule is less than perfect.

Thanks.
It is good news, really. I'm just easing into it after my inital excitement.

In fact - good news and more good news - I was also informed my contract with Tiger has been extended until the end of school (July 2012).
It technically expires in February as I was employed on a one year contract.

Given that approx 60% of Mums I talk to want to become TAs, the school is hardly short of applicants. So I guess I'm doing okay

Are you considering maybe doing an early level TA qual? It may even be something you could do through the school (in terms of paying for the course and providing support). If there are specialised autism related courses that'd be a major feather in your cap.
