Worst way to die. (warning: horrible)

This is my worst nightmare.

...

A 25-year old woman died yesterday when she had a blow out on the freeway.

The car rolled. Her leg was pinned. The car caught fire. She managed to hand her two children out the window to a bystander, but died, trapped in the burning car.

Yeah, that's bad. I think I'd even prefer falling to this, given my history with burns. So I'm thinking . . . maybe I should carry a penknife to slit my throat with in case this happens to me? Ugh.

Yeah, I'm in a weird mood. So I'm sharing my weirdness with you, aren't you lucky? That's what I get for reading the news.

Ugh. But at least she knew her children were safe.

*shudder*

Death by fire is my number one terror. Closely followed by the whole being mangled up in a car scenario.

I never quite got over seeing that film, Audrey Rose, when I was a kid. The scenes where the reincarnated 'Audrey' is hammering on the glass and her hands are blistering.

Bleh. Should. Not. Have. Clicked. Link.

I did put a warning, sorry. Poor girl. The kids are injured and in the hospital. But she was a hero.

and from a flat tire.

Good argument for keeping good tires on your vehicle. They said speed was not a factor.

Blow outs can happen even with good tires. And are dangerous even if you're an awesome driver. But you can (in the UK at least) take an advanced driving course to help you learn how to stand the best chance of surviving.

Blowout did not cause death. It is the nature of SUVs. It rolled over because it is designed unstable. To keep it simpler and as profitable as possible, it is high and unstable. With a big cavernous engine compartment that can accept any engine without engineering. Its height creates a safety myth.

These numbers are currently lower. But the trend from ten years ago demonstrates why she died. One in for SUV crashes are roll overs. And one in four crashes caused fatalities.

Any or all tires must blow out on any car and it must not roll over. But then the engine would have to be integrated with the design. Then the vehicle would require engineering. SUVs are how to build something as cheap as possible. SUVs are exempt from many safety and emission requirements that automobiles must conform because they are trucks

But she was higher. Therefore she was safer ... a myth promoted alongside Saddam's WMDs. If concerned for her kids safety, she would not be driving such a dangerous truck.

What vehicles more often back up over kids? Well, at least the driver was not hurt.

A myth in your mind only. SUV's roll over more than regular sedans - 85% of all people know that.

Any vehicle can flip when a tire blows. What the driver does when it blows is the variable.

More than 85% of the time the correct action is taken. The rest are what we see in the paper. That sells.

Was she putting on makeup? Was she talking on the phone? Was she texting her husband or a friend? There are so many unknowns in this situation for you to equate your BS opinion without knowing any of the facts and to then refer to Saddam and WMD's is utterly ridiculous and factually incorrect.

Have a blessed day.

Oh and what she apparently did by saving her children was the most selfless act and nothing short of heroic . I wonder how many in that situation would have kept trying to save themselves. Probably somewhat more than 85%.

85%? Good grief, Batman! Everything is 85%.

I worry about being run over by a semi on the interstate. They're huge and I'm small and I have no real lid on my car. Huge seems to sometimes produce a lackadaisical attitude.

If I had to pick a good way to die, I would want to fall from a great height.

Those kids will grow up knowing their mommy loved them. It's so sad.

I worry about alligators/crocodiles. I worry one will eat me. Or a shark will eat me. Or something lurking in the dark water...will eat me!

Why am I so afraid of alligators? I live in Ohio - alligator-free since 1830!

Contrary to what most people say, the most dangerous animal in the world
is not the lion or the tiger or even the elephant. It's a shark riding
on an elephant's back, just trampling and eating everything they see.

I wouldn't mind Alzheimers - I wouldn't know I'm dying. It's more difficult on the people watching.
