4/12/2003: Record-breaking Amazon surfing
Brazilian surfer Picuruta Salazar rides the "Pororoca," a 12-foot wave that flows upstream once a year on the Amazon. The wave occurs when the ocean whips back on the heavily drained river, creating a giant curl that flows for hundreds of miles. Salazar rode this year's Pororoca through the rainforest for 37 minutes -- a surfing record. |

http://www.boreriders.com/Pororoca.html
The Boreriders site mentions the "Diverse array of deadly creatures" that surfers share the water with. Just to make it more appealing to tourists I guess.

That would be amazing! I think my longest ride ever was about 12 seconds, though it seems eternal when you're staring down the face. And that was even on a longboard in the spring. It'd be about half that on a short stick.
*damn, I miss the coast* |

When I saw the title about record breaking amazon surfing, I thought there was going to be an image lift of my purchase records from amazon.com ... I overspend there on a regular basis. Jeff Bezos sends me letters wondering if I'm doing okay when I go more than a week without buying anything.

I have to admit, I thought this would be about someone that browsed the shit out of Amazon.com.

Me too. I considered, briefly, how one could have an image of the record surfing of a specific website, much less come to a conclusion as to whom the title goes to. Then the page loaded, and realization dawned. Last edited by Skunks; 04-13-2003 at 05:17 AM. |
