Awww. Poor baby

Go see your vet. Rimadyl is usually better than aspirin for dogs. It's part of the same family but is less harsh on the stomach, less likely to cause ulcers.

Rimadyl causes liver and kidney failure and I would not use that unless there is nothing else. Drugs mask the condition they do not 'cure' it. Asprin is good short term. Buster try and give EPA and DHA fish oil caps squirt them in the dog's food two a day for a week and then one a day there after. You should be able to get Rexall brand cheap at Wal Mart $6- $8 a bottle.
I am sorry someone took your other dog people suck.

That is a risk with Rimadyl yes. But it's a risk with most non-steroidal anti-inflammatory pain killers.

I used to give pilau half an aspirin after I'd plucked his ears, because it used to leave his ears sore. Then one time he started vomiting blood. I had to stop giving him the aspirin. He now has Rimadyl when he needs pain relief; but he has periodic blood tests for his kidney and liver function. As does his brother, Dante, who is on daily rimadyl for his arthritis. Usually, the danger to liver and kidney function comes from regular use, not from an occasional course.

They also both have daily doses of glucosamine hydrochloride added to their food to promote joint health.

Sorry to hear bout your dog, Buster.
I tried to get Diz into a PDSA vet, but I don't qualify. Their criteria is receipt of Housing Benefit or Council Tax support. Because I live with Mum & Dad I don't get either (as I pay no rent).

The other benefits I receive put me in the low-income category, but because the 'rents took me in when I was in too much of a bad way to live alone, I am counted as if I was on a reasonable wage.

Of course my parents have just paid off their mortgage (this week!) Yay for them and all their hard work. I'd rather that was the case than they were in dire straits and I could get free vet care.

Diz is okay now. I just had a scare after a bout of diarrhea and vomiting (him not me!) and wanted to set my mind at rest. It's not that I couldn't afford a consultation - I'm happy to go without for that. It's the worry that it would lead to an X-ray, a scan, medication, injection etc. Of course igf it had carried on I would have borrowed the money from Grandad and got him down there ASAP. When I move out in the New Year I will qualify, and intend to get him a full health check then, just to be on the safe side. Ironically, it will be my Dad who has to drive me there anyway, as it's too far away to feasibly take a cat on the bus.

I know they do great work, so I'm not really moaning, I'm just in the position of falling outside of their guidelines.

Anyway - if you can afford it a heated pad might really ease her suffering. I got mine from eBay and they run on very little electricity a day. It's always hard when you know it's a case of age catching up with a pet. How far do you go? How long do you leave it? How much is enough?

Good luck, and I hope things go as well as they can.

And Jinx?
What a lovely pair
Diz does that too. We don't make such a nice composition though.

My wife has gotten into the Christmas spirit, and feels that the dogs should be, too!

Too gorgeous for words. Gypsy's nose is sooo kissable! (I assume she's the one whoring herself out to the third dog there :P) And Toby (the GS?) is so rakishly handsome, I want to steal him off you. I want to steal them both actualy.

This next set need an explanation:

We were out in the rather glorious snow the othe day, and in order to allow him some time off the lead, so he could run about a bit, I had to make him wear his gimp mask (muzzle). he hates it. His usual thing is to run around a bit and then stick his face into clumps of grass and try to drag it off. This made for some interesting pics, given the snow :P

That would be Junior, our alpha male. He's a mixed breed, Queensland Heeler and something. He's sniffing at a recent boo-boo on the leg.

You have them backwards Dana. Toby is the Weimaraner, Gypsy (our newest and youngest at 5 mos old) is the German Shepherd.

I tried to get them all in the shot, not so easy to do, they look like black blobs.
