When he takes the hot goop, cuts off a hunk with scissors, and feeds it into the rollers, he wearing heavy gloves to protect himself from the heat. Smart, but there's no way those gloves would be allowed in food production, there's no way to clean them.

Ohmigod...I remember our science teacher doing that. He took the entire supply of sodium from the science block, and led us all out to the pond behind the school (referred to as the 'nature reserve') and threw it in.
Of course by then he'd totally stopped giving a fuck and was biding his time til he could get back into an industry job :p
