First time off for about 8 years in a row. We got a hotel downtown and will be with the crowds and watch the fireworks for the first time in a long time. In the past we never could make it past 10pm to stay awake and watch it all on TV at home. Looking forward to the first few days off in a row for a while now. Even though I was off X-mas and the eve I had to many obligations.

Well, I am heading down the hill to mum's house. My bro, his wife and the two girls are heading up the hill to mum's house. So, it'll be me, mum, Bro, SiL, Meels, Soph and the two dogs.

Bro and SiL have been busy cooking curries. Mum's cooking the rice and papadums and I've been shopping for nibbles and fizz. Should be quite nice. Haven't done this in a while. Usually Bro and SiL go out and the girls stay with Mum; I drop by for a couple of hours but try to be at home for most of the evening.

Oh except last year when I was having my little whirlwind romance.

Truth is, I am feeling a little under the weather. Bad cold, sore throat, chesty cough, headache etc. I'd as soon just chill out in front of the TV, watching retrospectives and sipping port:P But I am sure I'll enjoy once I'm over there. Be nice to spend some time with the Family C.

All good things to Dwellars and those they love. *Raises a glass*

Well, since I did my puking last night thanks to a stomach bug, I am going to be DD for us and the other couple we are going out with. The plan is to hit a new restaurant that just opened, The Tilted Kilt, then a surprise party at a hotel for a mutual friend of ours, then who knows.

My this rice and banana taste good

Was going to do the above but instead four friends and assorted musical instruments are arriving any minute now for an impromptu ceilidh. I've even managed to find/cook enough food and find enough drink for a decent party, somewhat to my surprise!

Tonight is my 6th anniversary as a Cellarite. I will be celebrating it here at home alone tonight. TF is with her pseudo ex, and Selene and I are in the midst of a rather significant disagreement, making me lose all desire to go to the annual wild ass party we usually attend together. I will instead spend my evening making chili and cleaning the house in preparation for our annual NYD gathering.

You are all invited.

Well, it's nearly 12 hours since the new year started for us, and I went to bed well before the gong. Dazza stayed up for a while with the kids, but even he didn't make it. The kids stayed up and watched the fireworks on telly though.

I've got no staying power these days, and anyway, I thought new years eve was today. It wasn't till about 6pm last night that I realized I'd lost a day somewhere between then and Xmas.

I think I'm getting old.

Nah...not old, just not a kiddo anymore.

I remember hoping the adults would fall asleep first, so I could think I was grown up. Good times.

Yeah...actually, NYE doesn't hold the same joy and abandonment for me that it once did.

I think maybe I've had my quota of wild parties and now it's time to get down to boring. lol

I thought I was going to have to work tomorrow really early (4 AM) so I made no plans. Finding out that I didn't have to work, I just bought a bottle of Stoli Raz and a case of Sprite.

Now I'm significantly buzzed and waiting 'til my girlfriend calls from Wisconsin at Midnight for her. I may pass out after that. Depends how much further I make it through the bottle before then. About halfway now.

We had one of the most amazing meals ever--the chef even made us a special dish. Then we felt a little ill...too much rich food! But it was worth it.

MB has to be at work at 7 a.m. tomorrow (or today, rather), so the feeling ill part was probably a good thing. It made us come home earlier than we would have otherwise.

Finished squaring away the house for guests about 1PM. About 1:30 (starting to cook) the power goes off... until 8:30.
