Triviality

The Internet is a great tool for information. It is so great in fact, that it has lowered the bar for posting information to the point where any bit of information can be published.

This thread is dedicated to honoring those intellectual quests where the time spent in quantifying, organizing, and publishing the data far exceeds the value of the data.

I nominate http://popvssoda.com:2998/ as the first, and possibly best, example.

In Scotland they use the word "ginger" for any fizzy beverage.

I did not know that Limey.

In the '70s and 80s we used to call water 'corporation pop'.

Hmm, I soda pop, both words used together is not on the survey. I say it's invalid.

"Ginger" is fizzy drink (non-specific); Ginger Ale and Ginger Beer are just that ...

No - it may be dying out. "Juice" is another one, also meaning any non-alcoholic cold beverage. I had a couple of guys round to fit loft insulation and when I offered them mugs of tea, they say "Naw, hen, we've got wur cans o'jus in the van".

Are you assuming their "juice" is non-alcoholic?

I think there's a generic category here for Wikis devoted to particular popular shows, such as Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, etc.

However some sort of recognition needs to go to the one for Star Wars just on the basis of its name: Wookiepedia.
