I'll nab one if there's any left to be nabbed. I got one back in July but the link didn't work. Figured out why but by then the link had expired.

Mail me, and I'll shoot you off an invite. I tried to do it using your email link but I have to be in my gmail to send the invite.

Other than the storage space, what's the big deal about GMail that makes everyone so excited to get and give invites? Is there something I'm missing, or is it simply a badge of net.honor to have a GMail account (rather similar to "@ parties" of the early 90s, where you could only get in if you had a verifiable email address).

The space is pretty much it. I'll be able to send the full version of my photos from my gmail account to someone else's without worrying about file size.

I just basically want to see for myself what all the fuss is about.

There's really nothing special about it. I think the main thing is the size. If I'm not mistaken (and I often am), the reason they're releasing the accounts in increments is to keep bugs contained if/when they break out.

The other feature besides space is the ability to do a Google search through your own e-mails to find one you are looking for. I can't say if that's something you would value, but I can imagine after a few years, when you have thousands of messages in your in box, if you want to find an old one, the search feature might be nice.
