If there's a God and He has a Plan, then he's a sadistic bugger.

Although there is no afterlife, IMO, there IS heaven and hell. And it is right here. Usually people make their lives good or bad as a result of the choices they make. Make the right one, life is good. Make the wrong one, life is bad. No need for a 'universal boss'. We can choose our destiny just fine on our own.
I know that my kids have done some pretty shitty things that really hurt me and pissed me off. I am certain that there is nothing they could do that would make me throw them into a fire. My love for them is unconditional. Is your 'God's' love unconditional? Or will he love you only if you obey his rules and torture you if you don't? Just saying.....

So can seeing your family physician.
If you are made in god's image, why do you feel compelled to "convert"?

Going into a meditative state can be very beneficial. It can help you resolve issues that have been troubling you. Prayer, like Pico suggested, is just another route to that receptive and relaxed frame of mind.

I go into a deep meditative state every day. It lasts for like 7 hours. I have a special place in a special room, built just for it.

Do you have those specially designed insulating textiles to help keep your body temperature up during this time when body movement isn't enough to keep you warm by itself?

Yes - I'm in such a deep state that this is required. I'm actually not even aware of anything happening around me, that's how deep it is.

Then there's the repetitive, droning chant that you do the whole time..
