Has anyone ever thought that the cellar needs it's own physical space somewhere? Like having a street named after it somewhere in Philly.

Then we could have little monkey shaped icons in the sidewalk with members' names in them.

At some point there should be a shrine type building with a single seat inside with a single computer. That computer should have an internet connection that will only allow viewing the Cellar.

On the wall there could be a big map of the world with all the locations of each of the members. A tiny pushpin could represent a member's location and the pushpin's color could represent the number of posts on the Cellar.

Once completed, web cams could be installed on one end of "The Cellar St" looking in one direction, and another at the other end of the street so that people viewing the Cellar online could also view the Cellar St and all those people that have come to photograph the icons in the sidewalk.

Inside the memorial one more cam could be positioned to show the face of the occupant of the single seat viewing the Cellar. This cam could then create a still shot of that person and insert it automatically into the "what do you look like RFN" thread.

There should also be an electronic guestbook with a still photo attached along with a comment on that person's visit to the memorial.

The pushpins would have to be able to change color as a person's post count increased, so the thing would have to be wired to the 'Net and updated real time.

I think it would get a lot more action if the color of the pushpins related to the Dwellars blood alcohol level.

Pushpin icons do allow more flexibility. Good idea.

Could an attachment be added to the format on the cellar somewhere that would measure BAC. Maybe a breathalyzer of some kind?

Should it just monitor the alcohol level or possibly the presence of drugs as well.

And if both, would it monitor or screen for "illegal" drugs or something that might make a dwellar post something dumb that is an over the counter drug but with the warning, "do not operate heavy machinery or post on the Cellar"?

I'm sure Adm Pointdexter already built some system like this. Why reinvent the wheel? UT should just arrange to tap into the feed over at the NSA. Easy peasy.

Google groups can do that.

Aren't we taking ourselves a little too seriously?

Don't you think it's hypocrisy
to criticise other's poetry?
It may look like squabbling, taking the piss
But I'm gonna ask y'all to consider this:
sky and lj are painting pictures
with their real-time intenet bitches
Who are we to judge that stuff
They joined in, ain't that enough?
Not all poetry scans and rhymes
Not all words relate pretty times
this is the poetry of the cellar
No fucking wonder we're all going to hell here

all the places where we touch are seized up. the normal flow of lubrication has been stopped; there is no compassion, no benefit of the doubt, no love. the normal methods of cooling are gone; there is no space, no relief. the normal things that act as bearings are missing; there is no human touch, no intimacy, no sharing.

it is all shrieking screeching sparking mess, dangerously incandescent. an expensive non functional wreck.

sad because the redline was cruelly and deliberately ignored. all the warning signs disregarded. purposefully broken.

goddammit.
Beautiful. That's exactly how it happens.

Inside that flaming wreckage, where every other function has ceased, your awareness becomes enhanced, as it turns inward.

no. look at it another way. You've crossed the line into "voluntary land". everything you do beyond this point is something you want to do, or you won't do it. You have entered the realm of "eff you" money. Boss tells you to work late and do more with less and you don't want to? "eff you, i'm going home." here's the great part, very little will push you to that point of frustration now because you are doing things you want to do, not things you have to do just to buy groceries.
that discovery is why so many financially secure baby boomers are continuing to work rather than spend the rest of their lives on the golf course.

forget the finish line, you just crossed the beautiful starting line.
