So, it's not dust, it's not a droplet, it's not on the camera lens, but it is an object and it is out of focus, but apart from that, I was right?

It's not really an object in that you can touch it. You might could feel it, maybe. But there would be no tactile sensation.



ETA: There is a vague hint in the original post also.

ETA Again: As far as focus goes, that's a fairly accurate representation of how it actually appears to the eye.
