July 11, 2010: Porsche Horticulture

Quote:
The Porsche Garden was part of the Royal Horticultural Society Show at Hampton Court back in July of 2008. This stylish automobile storage system (or off-street parking solution) was part of Flemond Warland’s garden design installation which won Gold.

Won gold?
Methinks anyone that can afford this garden, doesn't need the Gold.

It does hold great possibilities for Halloween, however.

You're devious.

If you click on the link, you'll see that these rich Porshe owners actually live in a trailer.

Seems fake. Look how accurately it has to be parked! Looks like the platform is about an inch bigger.

It is an installation for a competition - it's not someone's real house, garden or parking after all.

Flemon Warland specialise in conceptual design. From what I can tell they are Sim Flemons & John Warland. I likey. When I win the Euromillions I'll commission them to create a Cat Paradise Garden for my country home. Ideally an indoor one, so only one cat gets to share the Paradise. Eden before the fall and all that.

They used an actual product called CarDok, that's been around for some time.
There are a number of companies that make similar products for parking cars two high. I even saw them used in a NYC parking lot, 10 years ago.

And he has to drive on the green bit to get out. I like that people are thinking about this stuff though. Cars often don't match the surroundings and look like crap in front of houses.

My cars look like crap where ever I park them.

If someone was forgotten in the car there could be grave consequences.

There's controls in the pit, and in a real installation I'll bet they'd have an entrance to the basement.
