It's a fire drill, not the zombie apocolypse!

I just moved into a new loft apartment building in downtown Los Angeles. I love it and the area.
The building management hosts monthly fire/emergency drills and we had one yesterday afternoon at 5pm. I was expecting a grocery delivery between 6-7pm so I figured I would attend and still have time to get back to my apartment for the delivery.
They just want to tell us how to get out safely and where to meet after getting out of the building. It includes earthquake event training as well. It was SUPPOSED to take about 15-30 minutes.
But thanks to one wacko tenant, it took over an hour because he had dozens of "helpfull" tips that had ZERO to do with anything we were talking about.
They included how to make mace spray with household products in case our neighbors start to riot and loot. What kinds of ways to block your door so nobody can break in and take your water supply, etc.
He took up so much time that it was after 6 when the lecture stopped. I had to skip the practice evacuation so I wouldn't miss the delivery.
I told the trainer that if the zombies come, I'm giving them that guy's apartment number and telling them there's good eatin' there!
She got a laugh out of that and agreed.

There's one shift a week where I start at the same time as a young lad who is always running late. To the extent I arrive just after him, as I'm arriving early.

Being a young lad, he sprints from the very periphery of my vision. He covers about 300m (albeit downhill) in ridiculously short space of time; as soon as my brain registers him he's nearly across the bridge to the supermarket.

Seeing someone running so fast in an urban location, in the dark, is really quite unsettling. And I never remember which day our shifts coincide. There's a chance he's not often late, or I'm not always early, but I just remember the times I see him running as if for his life.

I would not survive a 28 Days Later style attack.

Shel, I'd suggest any number of amusing pranks to play on the Wacko.
But I think I prefer you alive and posting here...

Awww shucks! :-)
I wouldn't want to risk losing my apt. anyway. Especially since the apt. one floor up and across from me is VERY open about shooting gay porn pics near their window. LOL
Here are pics of my new place, BTW:

9th floor. There are 12 floors total.
The building is over 100 years old.

Here's the web site for it:

Hmm, Micro-Lofts® with gas & electric included for a mixed income community... that's an interesting business plan.
I hope it works out great for you, of course that shouldn't be too hard if it's only got to be better than Jersey.

For a minute there, Shel, I thought we'd been denizens of the same 'hood ... Rosslyn ... but it seems we cope with bizarre neighbors on opposite coasts. You in LA, me in Arlington (last fall). Oh well ... I second your zombie strategy!
