August 7, 2013 - Going Ballistic
Firearm aficionado Andrew Tuohy firing his .45 Kimber 1911 underwater in his pool. Here is .40 165gr and .45 230gr loaded ammo and expanded projectiles. "Andrew told us that while no guns were damaged in the making of these photos, the underwater shock he felt after they were fired made him feel like he had been kicked in the chest." Leslie Horn at Gizmodo The video above shows Andrew firing a .40 Glock 22 in his own pool. The video was shot with Pentax WG-2 on the "high speed" video setting. It's been slowed down to 30fps for an added bad ass factor. (Watch for the bullet and casing to slow down and sink to the bottom at the end.) From Gizmodo

It sure doesn't seem to take much water to stop the projectile, does it?

I wouldn't want to be underwater myself when doing that.

SPUCK age reference noted: he remembers "Sea Hunt".
There was a Mythbusters about this. They fired a 50 caliber round into the water. This is a round that can kill you a half mile away, or penetrate light armor. The Mythbusters figured that you'd be safe 14 inches below surface. |

Why not?
Interesting stuff you guys brought up. I was just thinking about the cool pictures, not about the range or velocity of the projectile.

And it's important we continue the fight for the right to shoot guns under water. The second amendment applies to all mammals, whales and dolphins alike.
