I'll tell you one thing... That vanity tag on the back of the bike cost $76. When I got the SMRT tag, it was $35. Pa has increased title fees, lien fee, there's a new BS county fee.... and now they gouge you for a vanity tag. Pricks.

So, the inner shoe was all but gone. The tech said I had about 3 more rides left.

Good thing the guys on the HD forum were such hammers about checking it. The cam run out is only .002" which is awesome for a 53k motor, and the lobe and cam journal look fine.

The guy that's doing the work is a forum member that does side work, and has the respect of the other members. When he offered his help for parts cost and 1/2 the dealer's labor rate, I jumped. At this rate, I may have it back next Weds! My seat is finally shipping this Friday. It's coming together.

Excellent, glad you found somebody who knows what they're doing and isn't an asshole. I could never understand the design of those guides, unless they have the mindset they're designing motors for garage queens that will never get that many miles. With the technology and materials available now, they could do much better but I guess there's no profit in that.

You can convert it to a gear driven cam. S&S sells it for $700. Then you need to do rods, tappets, oil pump, etc. That's what the local guy wanted $1650 for. If I was planning to keep this for another 50k, I'd probably have done that. I see 3 years on this, and then I should be keeping enough of my money to trade it on a new Road King.

I'm waiting for the autonomous models, with machine guns.

He's done with the cam chest rebuild, exhaust is on, shocks too. Just has the pushrods and heat shields left, plus the test ride. Possible that it's done Sunday.

Yeah, dude is legit. This isn't his job, and as cheap as he works, I have to assume he just enjoys doing it. He's actually an Investigator for the county. Wears a glock on his belt at work. The quickness tells me he's done this enough times that he just knocks it out. Whereas, when I work on it, I spend more time scratching my head and looking things up on YouTube, than I do actually turning wrenches.

Maybe it's part of his job, wrenching undercover to catch hot bikes or parts.

Almost done.

He should be through with the pushrods about now, and then just testing and adjusting.

Picked it up today. It's faster. It's louder. Don't know why, but it is. I have a couple new projects now, while it's down for paint. The fairing mounts need repair, and I need to replace the front motor mount. New gaskets for the console, new bolts for the windscreen, and blue LED lighting.

I wish I had a month off to concentrate on it.

I had to look a third time to confirm it wasn't a cop.

This was one of those 3 wheelers with the two wheels in front, so it had a lot of real estate up front for the big star.

I don't like those Spyder things. They look kind of cool, but they handle like a snowmobile.

I've altered the paint plan by now.... Not going to put a star on the tank.. Just going to do it Midnight Blue with matte finish and the Wille G skull in white on the tank.

Good move, the star would lead to no good. Besides the cop thing, there are plenty of non-cowboy fans, who are real serious about it.
