Uh. No.

The stings themselves are only painful for a moment. But the next day, I get crazy itchy welts that take a week or two to disappear.

We did five reefs, on five separate outings. Probably around 10 hours in the water, so a couple dozen stings is nominal for me. What I really need to do is invest in the proper clothing.

After researching it, it turns out that it's stingers from the nymphs of the thimble jelly, very common around the island. And vinegar is supposed to be the ticket, not ammonia.
