I have ridden a motorcycle in NYC. That was scary enough for me not at the time. I was younger and dumb. Slack lining is getting popular. One slip though....

First he had to climb that 450 ft rock carrying the other end and anchor it.

obviously for the adrenaline, right, and for the selfie/hold my camera and watch this... sure.

But ... how much adrenaline can you take and not spontaneously combust?

Doesn't matter, if he combusts he'll be even more famous.
If it was just for adrenaline there would be no reason for cameras.
The odd thing is there is nobody on the rock to hold his beer?

Good IOTD, but I am feeling contrary today.
The headline on the link says "Scottish Daredevil..." He is German.
I wonder how the perspective in the pic gets so screwy: 450 feet high and 600feet long. Daredevil must be around 125 feet tall.
He also has a safety belt attached to the highline. Might pee his pants if he falls, but won't die.

The safety belt is nice, but the slack line must be secure, because it is a looooooooooong way down.

Actually the headline says, A Scottish Daredevil’s Tight-Rope.... Could have belong to a Scottish daredevil and the German used it.

600 feet you say? Notice this end is visible on the right and he's only a few feet from it. Probably why he looks big.

I still think he's foolish and stoopid because no one thinks about the forces they're applying to the anchor points. I'd guess his weight and the rope amount to more than two tons of tension.. Two tons of pull at the top of a 450 foot tall moment arm made of dirt and plants. He's really lucky he didn't pull the whole thing down.

You are sort of right, Bruce, the headline says: "A Scottish Daredevil’s Tight-Rope Walk across..." meaning the rope made the walk with no Germans involved.

Well no Germans in the headline, but history has taught the UK the Germans are always lurking in the wings.

Look how close he is to the photographer, how thick the rope appears at the near end and how it vanishes almost entirely from view at the spire end. He's only a few strides from done, and that's what my artist brain is telling me is screwing up the perspective. Things like this were what gave the production teams their ideas for forced-perspective use in movies like the Lord of the Rings trilogy, where a specially-constructed "wagon" was used to make Frodo look so much smaller than Gandalf at the beginning of Fellowship of the Ring. They were actually sitting like 6 or 8 feet apart!
