No Surprise.....

My flight to Chicago was cancelled. Now going home via Atlanta, but word is they expect Detroit to close right around about the time my new flight is due to land....... am not remotely surprised, but am ready to go home and would rather not deal with the palaver of getting a hotel room in Atlanta and being a day late home, arriving on a work/school day :/

That sucks big time, I 'm sure you're anxious to get home after your first week in hell. Feel free to drop Tony's name if it'll help.

it wasn't hell. It was pretty cool because I learned that it's the perfect job for me and I will do it well. But I'm tired, I miss my family and I don't want them to be driving in shitty conditions to come and get me, or having to drive themselves to school in shitty conditions.

I did mention Tony, and they asked if he was interested in buying a soiled 737. And they said they weren't sorry about his finger.

Great, that's outstanding news... the job, not the traveling.
Sounds like you feel the job is comfortable enough you'll be able to parry the inevitable mosquitos that surround every job. You have the advantage because they'd play hell trying to find a replacement with your qualifications.

The hotel TV's default channel is The Weather Channel. Every time I turn it on, the forecast for Detroit is worse

Good news/bad news. Great job/stuck in Detroit. Or is it Atlanta? Does the bar have free drinks for stranded travelers?

But seriously, glad to hear the job will be a good fit.

I am stuck in St Louis.

The second cancellation came as I pulled up to the pump to fill the rental car before returning it. Sat at the pump and rescheduled, then moved to parking spot to extend hire car...... didn't notice I missed the call to cancel the flight I'd just been booked on. So went and sat it out at a friends, beest checked on line and noticed the cancellation. tried for hours to call Southwest to reschedule, couldn't get through, so decided to drive to airport, dump car anyway, get reschedule and then get hotel on airport. So here I am, in the Hilton, not remotely enjoying it, and not going home tonight. No school for the kids tomorrow, though, so at least they don't have to manage another day with insufficient drivers

Bummer, it sucks when things out of your control go to hell.
