Mar 15th, 2017: Flower Power

Hope you survive the Ides of March.
But if you get stabbed it means you were a contender, a somebody, not a punch drunk bum.

Flowers do have power, more power than sticking a Daisy in a Guardsman’s rifle barrel.
They attract attention, boost peoples spirits, bond lovers, and have the power to educated people.

If you come to Philly you can ask almost anyone, who’s that statue way up on City Hall, and they’ll rattle
off “Willie Penn”. But like most cities there’s many lesser statues scattered in squares and parks that most
people will say, “Don’t know, some soldier or politician or somebody famous”, unless they live real close.
Then you might get, “That’s what’s his name, he was famous”.

I guess in Philly you’d get arrested for vandalism, if not shot, for decorating with flowers. Other places too,
but in Belgium they are more tolerant. Geoffrey Mottart does this in broad daylight.

Mottart makes a mold of the head, takes it back to his studio, and glues up to as many a 1200 flowers to it.
Then he takes it out to the statue and installs it… with a little primping.
Now John/Jane Q Belgian comes along and it brightens their day, maybe they smile, or snap a picture.
They might even tarry a little to look closer which is a good idea because everything is interesting.

Either way, picture or gawk, you know they’ll tell people about it.
Then the Shown will say “Cool, who’s statue is that?” Well the Show-er is going to feel like a smacked ass
if they don’t know. They may laugh it off but sure as hell the next time they’ll know, thus so will the Shown.

That’s Mottart’s plan to cause people to self educate, as well a interact with other citizens and tourists,
about the Belgian history behind these statues.

I like it.

Everything is interesting... look closer.
