The Coming Apocalypse: Hurricanes, Tsunamis, Bird Flu and Politics
Okay...someone had to do it...someone had to start an End of the World Thread (tm), and it might as well be me. Over in the discussion on gas prices, TW has launched the "divine retribution" missle. Radar, in most posts, stops just short of calling the USA a police monarchy. We have Cellarites in the path of Hurricane Rita. We have Cellarites with damage to their homes and economies from Katrina. Mt. St. Helens and Yellowstone Park are bulging. Jihad is afoot in the Middle East. The Red Sox won the World Series.
Surely, these are all signs of the impending Apocalypse. So...what do *you* think, gentlefolk? Is it coming? Will the J-Man return, or is it just another phase of geological time? Have the Illuminati finally shot themselves in the foot? This should make for some spirited discussion.

Actually, I think we've just been living well for a long time, and things are going to take a downturn. I don't think it's the end-of-the-world, though.

Tell you one thing, I don't wanna be around to see the grocery store if the Apocalypse is approaching. By all accounts, we're going to get nothing more than a little heavy rain this weekend from Rita, but it was a fuckin' madhouse this afternoon--and the aisles that usually house bread, peanut butter, bananas, juice, and water were all completely barren.

The world is gearing up for the Earthchanges promised by a variety of cultures, based on the timetable nicely provided to us by the Mayans.
These are the days of chaos and confusion. Wait until this cycle completes, you won't know what hit you. The Earth prepares for 12-21-2012, the end of the calendar, and the dawning of the Sixth Sun. We are in the time when the choices are made, the people, by the way their lives are lived decide if they will enter the Sixth Sun.

I prefer to look at the logical reason - tamper with the laws of nature/physics (and we do a lot of that - be it green house gases, raw materials extraction, interfering with genetics, interfering with cultures, etc) and you'll get an appropriate reaction/correction. We're just feeling the correction reach a stage where it is more noticeable and evident than before - just shows how much we have been interfering...

I've already laid in my supply of N95s, food rations, water, hand-crank radio, etc. etc. etc. I had to promise my mom I'd do it -- she's sure the world will collapse in the next year or so from H5N1. (She's no nut -- she has a PhD and is a cancer healthcare advocate.)
Now I'm just trying to decide if it's worth trying to survive. I mean, if the New World Order favors someone of Wolf's training, I'm not sure I want to be there to see it. Listen to this presentation at the Woodrow Wilson Center for more postapocalyptic fear...

1) Where did you purchase your N-95's?
2) How many did you buy? 3) How long can one be used before replacement is required? I spent a lot of time researching this exact thing last night, and it looks like the best I can do is about $1.95 apiece.

At this rate, I seriously doubt humanity will last the next century. Or if we do survive, it will be at about 10% of our current population... Good riddance.
