Spotify being amazing again

Spotify rolled out "Discover Weekly". They use your listening habits and the listening habits of people similar to you, to find things you don't know about.

Every Monday they give you a new two hour long mixtape of songs and artists that you have not listened to, but the system predicts you'll like.

Two weeks in and so far it's reeeeally good... 'course Spotify knows everything I've listened to since 2011, so it has a lot of data on me. But so far, shockingly good. Worth the price of admission good. Change your life good.

runs about 50/50 for me.... but this is what was missing... and why I still kept Pandora. New to me music.

They need the thumb up/down thing now. I need it to understand that I hate Lou Reed and Elvis Costello.

Spotify is great, I've been using it for years.
It's amazing how just by following simllar artists can take you onto a wonderful journey of bands you never knew existed and the great music that you wonder how you missed it.

I'm picking up one or two new (or forgotten) tunes per week so far. I think I'll drop links to them in here as they grab me.

Here's a good'un:

This guy's voice is so familiar... I just can't place it.

The one I just posted made the same list. I have several playlists that I play based on the customer I'm with.

You were listening to Toe Tappers, because you're a musician in a rhythm section, and it's got all the good up tempo stuff. Slow and Groovy has more subdued tracks, and Chick Tunes is self explanatory. Weird songs has shit like Miserlou and Primus and Brand new Key... I have classical and Latin lists too for coffin dodgers and beaners.
