From ->Captain Infinity (#1)
Date ->Wednesday, November 23rd 3:03pm

I took over the board in April, 1986. I believe Max put it up around November,
1984. (It was certainly up then, but I don't think it had been up for very
long.)

As for the Saga, that came after I switched to GBBS Pro, and after the AE stuff
was put it, so I think that would make it ~November 1987. No, actually it was
before then, as I recall the Mayor's Race entering into it at one point, so
lets say Summer, 1987. "August 12th, in fact," he said, authoritatively
pulling a random date out of his rather large-ish hat.

Rogue Winter picks up the tale....

I finally found the logs of the Kaos Saga that I'd been carrying around for years, and dumped them onto my website. Mind you, they ain't pretty, and I haven't really looked at them for a couple years, but they're there. Check 'em out if you like at http://www.wuxtry.com/kaos.

Good work, that. I've got some serious reading to do. BTW, are you playing UT these days? Ran into a Rogue Winter on one of the servers I frequent...

Nope. I'm guessing you mean Unreal Tournament, but I don't play that or any other games I can think of that would abbreviate to UT. (Nor have I ever competed against the University of Texas.)

It doesn't surprise me that there could be another Rogue Winter out there someplace. I'm not the only Alfred Bester fan in the world.

Gaah. And I just noticed there was a non-printing character at the beginning of the file "KAOS.SAG" that was forcing it to be read as data (application/octet-stream to you MIME types). I've removed that line, and the file is now readable as plain text.

Here's a quick idea of how each file begins....

Ji-Sun Hikari takes up the tale

"We're on Candid Camera," Rogue said, peering around the corner at the
blue-topped pylon. "Let's turn off the television."
"Elevated," Ji-Sun told her, and fired his rifle at the security post. It
imploded, along with a piece of the wall behind it, and the concussion from the
blast knocked Carl, poor fool, down the corridor, where he collided rather
loudly with a wall.

liquids and was feeling much stronger than before. A newspaper lay on the
nighttable next to him, so he subsequently grabbed for it before he realized
that it was over 4 years old. The print was yellow and faded, and the pages
seemed ready to crumble. He read the headline.
"TENSIONS IN MIDDLE EAST RISE AS GULF WAR CONTINUES." A small sub-headline
proclaimed in 8-point print, "ISRAELI PRIME MINISTER KAHANE REPORTS NUCLEAR
CONFRONTATION WITH LYBIA 'UNLIKELY'." Zeph didn't bother to even read the
story; he knew it all to well. There were no other books or reading materials
in the room save the gun journals and weapon care manuals, so he began to count
dots on the ceiling as his bodycontinued to heal. He was truly beginning to
loathe sleep, which was understandable, considering the frequency with which
his dreams were now occurring. This last nightmare was terrifyinly real, and
he prayed to God that it didn't manifest itself again.
Not long after Zeph reached dot 5624, which, incidentally, is the number of
herpe sores on Joel's penis, he was startled by a sudden knock at the door.

A warm, pleasant darkness floated around Rogue Winter's soul. She moved
along currents of ether and currant jelly eclairs. Rather aimmlessly, barely
aware of her situation, but constantly Aware that there was a capitalization
assiciated to here barest Awareness, she rested in Limbo. She counted Jamaican
men with broomsticks floating over her in her sleep.

Alas, solitude is best appreciated when it is lost, and as Rogue felt
herself fall into a spiralling tunnel of light and small-"a"-awareness, she
appreciated it one hell of a lot. With a "shoop" sound taken from the
soundtrack of a Joe Dante film, she fell onto a huge white waterbed.

"This is the creche." Rogue looked around the completely white room that
passed for her private green room when she was under contract to the Saga.

-Hmmm, That signal came from Quasi Comp Central.- For some reason, his random
intuitive recall circuit came up with a reference to "Holy Saint Bernards,
Batman!". Deep made a note to have his random intuitive recall circuit checked
for whimsy.
Deciding that it was not necessary to use the Eagle, Deep again popped his
wings and MicroTurbines (TM) and shot off to QCC.
Landing on the sidewalk, Deep noticed the spot where the QuasMobile was usually
parked. It had been stripped, and apparenlty nearly two months had passed
since then. The automatic defenses must have been turned off.

The man who had introduced himself as Dodger was sitting sideways in his

With all the noise and distractions going on outside, Madman Joe drifted
out of his slumbering state.
"Lord Arioch! How long have I been asleep?"
Just then, the ship wrenched from the forementioned relief from the
tractor beam. One of Madman's now numorous bags came hurtling from its position
to the floor. A small vial flew out of one of the velcro like pouches on the
side, made for easy access. It struck near the door, which turned the door, and
a few various areas around it into a darkened blue crystal.

(Note: Zephyr is not in love with Lisa YET. He isn't quite aware of that
fact. To be brutally honest, he hasn't even left the party yet. He stuck
around for the big party afterwards.)

The brown leather suitcase flipped open to reveal a couple of ill-fitting
outfits he had snarfed while in the village. He tossed the bag aside in
exasperation; all of his things, what precious few there were of them, were
back in Philadelphia. He sat on the bed and pondered his next step, but was
disturbed when Lisa walked in on her aluminum crutches.
"It looks like it's all over," she said, relieved. "The villagers have

"Yeah, I gues HOLD ON, maybe somebody routed it To that point where Bork

Captain Infinity attempts to solve this dilemma)

"I did it! HA HA HA! And I don't regret it! Not for a minute! And I'd DO IT
AGAIN!!!" -- Captain Infinity

Continuing in a somewhat more subdued vein, what the Captain is trying to say
is that he has gone ahead a (rather maliciously) deleted the saga. "Damned
Rude of Him," you say. Well, I'm not surprised. That's just the sort of thing
you WOULD say.

Anyhow, the rationalization: The Saga had reached 4397 blocks (2.19 Meg) of
semi-valuable disk space on the Captain's (actually, Ted Roth's, but that's
another matter entirely) admittedly WIMPY 10meg Sider.
