Those are really cool, monster. I like how you propped Flaming Dooberry on some feet.

thanks (they are attached)

I tend to be a geometric hand-builder, so these pieces were me challenging myself to be more -erm- freeform? the professional-looking photo of the dooberry is actually used to advertise the ceramics program

I thought they were probably attached, monster. Do you enjoy handbuilding more than wheel throwing? When I was younger I studied ceramics briefly in college. I loved handbuilding...more than wheel throwing. I couldn't understand what all the fuss was about with the wheel. Thats pretty neat that your piece is used as an example for advertisement.

That's why they call it an Arizona Room...Lots of glass, skylights and exposure on the north side of the house. In Florida, they call it a Florida room. I don't know why.

Popcorn? Cool!
I did popcorn and cranberries for the tree and garlands around the room once.

ONCE! I swore never to string popcorn again.

Done. This years theme, all hand made ornaments, including stuff from the kids when they were younger.

When I hear "old fashioned tree" it reminds me of the year I lived in Germany. Our German neighbors had real candles on their tree. I was astounded, because it's such a fire hazard. They have these little candle holders that clip to the branches and hold special little candles very securely. The trees there were thinner than you see here, so there were plenty of spots where you could clip a candle without lighting the branches above it on fire.

I just did a quick Google image search and turned up this picture of a German tree with real candles. You can tell they are real flames, because they all point up, even when the candles are crooked. You'd think there would be more fires, but they don't leave the trees unattended.

Wow, even if you were standing right there, if the tree went up in flames there isn't much you could do besides grab the gifts.
I mean you could probably stop the house from burning down, but the tree and that room would be very messy.

I have a set of those clips and candles. I used to put them on the tree but never lit them.

It's great when you're sitting around watching those Christmas classics.
