Work-Travel Programme

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these things. My friend and I want to go for the one organised by the CIEE (Council for International Educational Exchange). Is there anything I should watch out for? A few of the employers here.

The only safe way is to talk to somebody who already worked in the area you are interested in visiting. I have heard several horror stories, it is not always what they tell you it will be like. Very recently a friend got back from a horrible experience in Madrid. She thought she was going to live in and be nanny to the children after a morning at school. She discovered that the family did not want her to use the computer, receive phone calls or packages, or leave the house once she returned from class. Although she was a certified languages teacher in Hungary, they treated her like a servant. She was miserable.
