Dungeons and Dragons Online

just read about this being released today. i *cough* used *cough* to play pen and paper d&d when i was in high school and had a blast. i'm a huge rpg dork. i've played one or two mmorpgs very sparsely, and am wondering how this one holds up. does anyone intend on buying and playing this? anyone else follow the development/release? it looks like a fun game, and i'm wondering if it will draw some of the old school enthusiasts.

I played one day's worth of Stormreach. It was pretty faithful to AD&D. Nice graphics.

I'm not sure if it's worth $13 a month, though.

that's the official site. i've heard bad things about these developers before, but this seems like a fun game. i guess the draw for me is the d&d universe.

richlevey,

have you played several mmorpgs before? how would you say it compares?

have you looked into anarchy online? free until you upgrade (and if I know me and the bulk of mmorpg players.. it's only a matter of time). but I will hold my head high and say HELL YEAH! I PLAYED D&D! AD&D! second edition D&D...2.5... but damnit! I had to draw the line at 3.0+ still have a huge stack of ad&d modules.. and all the books.. and I do mean all.. anywhoo! everything I have heard and read about the game is pretty positive, and hopefully it'll have more staying power than neverwinter nights. 13$ a month? I dunno.. seems kinda like a rip-off, since your paying 50$ to get the game in the first place. but I'm sure all my old d&d buddies will get into it and perhaps we can finally play again.
