Kurzweil does it again

Has anyone read Kurzweil's latest book The Singularity is Near? I haven't finished it yet but it's a great read so far. It helps to have read his other book The Age of Spiritual Machines because he does assume a bit of background knowledge on the part of the reader, but it's not hard to pick up if you haven't.

Somebody told me he is the same Kurzweil as the Kurzweil synthesizers.

Don't know what ever happened to 9th engineer, but I've recently read Kurzweil's The Age of Spiritual Machines. (4 years later)
