Isn't there a program that does that digitally?

My daughter plays trombone in her middle shool's wind ensemble band. It's the best of several bands in her school. They just went to the District XII Band Assesment today, where a panel of judges grades the performance of each band in the district. They got a perfect score. That hasn't happened for a middle school band here since they started doing these assesments in the sixties.

She has really worked hard at this, has improved tremendously over the last year, and sounds great. When I hear this band, I have a hard time remembering they are kids.

You can do it in photoshop, but I don't have it.

I'm sure I could download a similar program for free, but I probably wont.

I need to take the good camera down and get a sharper pic. This one is a little blurry, but it's still a nice snap.

That's awesome glatt. I used to play in the brass section when I was in school. Our band was pretty terrible, but we had fun.

Our choirs on the other hand, were awesome!

I always wished I played a musical instrument. That is so cool! Good for her! My uncle and nephew play trombone. It looks like it would be hard to be precise. It must take a lot of practice and talent.

Re portraits from photos.....

This is a painting from a photo of my kids and their friends:

If you ever need an artist, this is who I would recommend commisioning, especially of there's water and nature involved in the pic. He's in the US, though.....

And no, I don't own this picture, but one day I might......

That was the last wrinkly swim suit Hebe ever owned -that was the first summer of competitive swimming.......

noodled around with this *wonderful* picture...

What do you think? There's a local photo printing shop that makes among other things photoprints on canvas. This is what I had in mind, painterly like.

I like the idea. So I thought I'd try my hand at it too. This is the "oilify" filter in gimp, with the pole deselected so it doesn't get obliterated.

Betcha' goin' fishin' all o' da' time
Baby goin' fishin' too.
Bet yo' life, Yo' sweet wife
Catch mo' fish than you.

Many fish bites if ya' got good bait,
Here's a little tip that I would like to relate.
Many fish bites if ya' got good bait.
I'm a goin fishin', Yes I'm goin' fishin,
And my baby goin' fishin' too.

I went on down to my favorite fishin' hole
Baby grab me a pole an' line.
Throw my pole on in, caught a nine poun' catfish
Now ya' know I brought him home for suppertime.

Provin' any fish bites if ya' got good bait,
Here's a little tip that I would like to relate.
Many fish bites if ya' got good bait.
I'ma goin fishin', Yes I'm goin' fishin,
And my baby goin' fishin' too.

Baby brother 'bout to run me outta my mind,
Say, can I go fishin' wi' chu?
I took 'I'm on down to the fishin' hole
Now what do you think that he did do?
Pulled a great big fish out da' bottom o' da pond,
Now he laughed and jumped 'cause he was real gone.
Many fish bites if ya' got good bait.
I'm a goin fishin', Yes I'm goin' fishin,
And my baby goin' fishin' too

Put him in da' pot baby put him in da' pan
Honey cook him 'til he nice an' brown.
Make a batch o' buttermilk, Hoe cakes Mama
An' ya' chew them thangs an' ya' chomp 'em on down

Singin' any fish bites if ya' got good bait,
Here's a little tip that I would like to relate.
Many fish bites if ya' got good bait.
I'm a goin fishin', Yes I'm goin' fishin,
And my baby goin' fishin' too.

Play da' blues...
Betcha' goin' fishin' all o' da' time
Baby goin' fishin' too.
Bet yo' life, Yo' sweet wife
She gonna Catch mo' fish than you.

Many fish bites if ya' got good bait,
Oh Here's a little tip that I would like to relate.
Many fish bites if ya' got good bait.
I'ma goin fishin', Mama's goin' fishin,
And the baby goin' fishin' too.

I prefer conceptual artists like Rothko. Here is the image with "Average Blur". It's deceptively simple - only the combination of sky, sand and water could combine to make this particular hue.

Because it occupies the same space as the original, it forces you to recall the original, to try to recreate it in your mind. But the deep expanse of joyless color is in many ways the opposite of the original, expressing an existentialist pain. Is the boy still there in your mind? Or does the power of the art wash him away? Each of us will react differently.

Enjoy.
