10 Day countdown

Until Banana Lady arrives She's chatting to the kids online and just dropped that bombshell!

I'm determined to have the house looking like a normal person's house this time -what with floors you can see and everything, and less evidence of pack-rat tendencies, no piles of unassorted crap stacked shoulder high on every surface that isn't used daily and in every corner...... and I've been making progress (10 years+ of New Scientist magazine recycled last week.....) but I didn't realize it was only 10 days away!!!!! I though I still had several weeks.........

Today so far, I mowed the lawn, but I'll have to do that again, so that doesn't count. And laundry -ditto. I'm going for a swim now, I'm thinking maybe I'll start on the kitchen when I get back...... I wonder what it will look like with clean, empty surfaces and bleached countertops? and with nothing on the floor and an empty table and clean windows? i suspect it will take me days to find out......

Arrange to be out of the house when she arrives and have Beest and the kids tell her you've moved out.

Better still, hide in another room to see her reaction.

I do it roughly once a year.

The place looks super-creepy to me when horizontal surfaces are visible.

We have a party or something two or three times a year. Then, at least, the main floor of the house gets a good going over.

C'mon, I recycled New Scientists from 1998-2009 and you're doubting that I mean business.....

that's fighting talk. this week, 10 years of Materials Scientist went. and Birmingham Alumnus Magazine.......

I forgot to mention the 20 pairs of shoes that went..... into the to-go pile....

Well we do this, but the problem is, we leave it until the last minute and then bag and box like crazy and put it in the basement ...and then the garage. And now they're both full of bagged and boxed crap that we probably don't need any more. (But also half a dozen library books. And a few other this we do need.....) But now, there is NO MORE ROOM. So we haven't had a party for a while and Banana Lady has dealt with the ugly exposed truth for a few years..... (she always says she comes to see us and not our house, bless her, and we're rarely actually in the house, so it's manageable......)

I hate clutter. It messes with my fen shui. No I am not prissy but I can't relax without a modicum of clean.

I actually can deal with objects, equipment but I don't like the smell of dishes in the sink, dust and generally things that need to be put away or thrown away.

phew, I am glad it isn't the winter fuzzy ear flapped one. At least that one looked chew-able.

I'm faced with emptying my house out in order to sell it.

There is an unbelievable amount of SHIT in there.

I've lived away from it for coming up on a year now, and I obviously don't need any of it. I'll be keeping my tools, and some photos, but most of it is going to the curb either for sale or discard.

I will also be keeping the kangaroo testicle bottle opener that Aliantha sent me one Christmas. just cuz I like offering it to people to use, and then telling them afterwards that it is made from genuine kangaroo scrotum. (it's very soft fur)

I need to work on a list of what I want to keep, actually.
