Turned out that the ssd I got went tits up.

No longer seen by the os because it was dead. I swapped the drive cables, and verified that it wasn't wiring or the mb... So I drove back to the store and exchanged it. Also got an internal memory card reader while I was there.

The kid at the register said the ssd I had was a slow (the exact words were ' little girlie girl one') ( the 'plus' version), and the new one (3) is much faster.

ok. all better. I had to use my boot CD (thanks again, mitch) to get rid of the windows OS i had installed on the big drive, re name the drives, so that the SSD is now C, and the big storage drive is D. format and reinstall W7 on the new C drive.... and start over loading drivers, etc.

the guy at the store told me never to defrag the SSD. ok. I don't think I've defragged a drive since windows NT, but that might be just because I'm a lazy prick.

It's kind of cool starting from scratch again. I can organize my shit properly, and I have enough room to house all of my music and photos. I found 2 big boxes of pictures in the attic of my house when I cleaned it out. I'm going to have to scan them. I have this Fujits 6140? scanner at work that would work great.

I thought.. Oh, ok, well I'll just buy one of those for home. uh... $1400.00???? wow. it must be a better scanner than I thought.

maybe I'll sneak it home over the weekend some time..... shhhh.

Even if you don't have a problem, go to nvidia and download the latest drivers. Then do this before installing any major new game that wants the latest and greatest video stuff.

The whole thing is mastering the mouse plus WASD keyboard movement, it gets way better after a while, we swear! 4 million gamers can't be wrong!

You may prefer to invert the mouse in settings. I know I do. That way when you pull back on the mouse you look up, instead of down. I dunno, it's one of those things where you get used to something and then it's natural.

Zip and Plt and me, we really want to kill you. And we want you to kill us. I swear.

87%... and holy shit, look at the time. I must have dozed off.....I'm for bed.

I guess the weak link in this chain is the wireless connection to the cable router.

I absolutely do not game on the wifi connection. I have wifi, but my main computer is wired. Probably as much a throw back to early wifi as anything, because my current connection is pants anywhivh way it comes through:p

But if you have the option of plugging in an ethernet or somesuch, I'd go for that.

I got my USB3 PCI express card and installed it last week. Everything works... :knockwood: just like it should, and slicker than owl shit.

Mission accomplished.

Now I have to get busy mailing in rebates and storing the boxes and what not.
