The bigger bags are hella convenient. Just having the lids that close under their own weight, instead of having to buckle 2 buckles.... And I can fit four 12 packs of beverages in them.

The real reason I did them, though, was because Amanda and I are going to do a week long vacation/ride down the Blue Ridge Parkway and back. I also got this big ass luggage rack pack:

I can't frigging wait. We've been taking longer rides to condition our butts.... And to break in that seat....

I got new tires, new brakes, an oil change and passed PA inspection today. Amanda is a planner, so she has been researching the route and attractions along the way.... Leaving on a Saturday, We are hoping to make it to my dad's house in Charlotte on Tuesday so we can attend his weekly bluegrass jam, then turn around and head back so I can be at work the following Saturday morning.

Also:

If you can find it online Motorcyclist Magazine editor Marc Cook just made most of this very same ride. No real revelations, but, I thought you might want to check it out. Oct/2015 "Wandering / The Road As Therapy" p.50.

ETA: Just tried to find it...You might have better luck at a newsstand.

Thanks....

Monkey butt powder though? Ya think? I thought that stuff was for chafing... like when you get sweaty, and are walking around, and then the sweat dries, and then you get sweaty again, and you get all puffy and your ass cheeks start to hurt like the devil...

I'll just be sitting on my arse for a couple hours at a time with 1/2-1 hour intermissions between... I have compression shorts that I can wear that usually keep that chafing under control if I'm going to be walking in the heat....

so, here's a couple clips of that ride:

It's a lovely road year round.
Ah, sex on the hood of a black Thunderbird, in an unlit pulloff at night, with traffic going by, wondering if the next car will swing in. Good Times, good times.

Yeah, but don't you just wish there had been someone there with you to share it?

That will be fun! I saw a black bear the last time I was on that road.

Are you hauling camping gear, or staying in hotels?

Man, a few hours on a bike in the heat can do terrible things to one's ass crack. Trust me. When things go all swampy down there, it'll feel like a baboon's blue ass looks. "Gaulded" will not do the situation justice.

Hope you avoid it. Both of you. I really hope you two have a safe trip, and enjoy it. And try not grit your teeth too hard over that 45 mph speed limit, all the way through the park. I also hope the rangers aren't as strict about that speed limit as they used to be.

And the traffic isn't so heavy the speed limit is moot.
Replace the office chair with a motorcycle seat, for training.
