They're faster than HDDs, they're more expensive, they're more reliable, physically. They use less power which translates to longer run times on a given battery charge.

A common yet somewhat unknown example of an SSD the hard drive of a basic USB thumb drive.

Yes, an SSD is basically a 'big flash drive'

It is faster, more reliable, and uses less energy because it has no moving parts.



Side topic:
Are they still making those spinning drives with an SSD cache? Anybody ever used one of those?

the 3, not the 'plus'

i had the plus first and it immediately shit the bed. dude at the compusa told me that was a little girly girl one, and the 3 is 10x better/faster.

what else you gonna put in there?

I'll get back to ya later Jim. I bought a MB(Biostar TA790gx a2+) back awhile "long while" ago, no drivers for win7, Then the web site was down for like forever. Other day I hit on it, and all the drivers were there..
So win7 w/8gbs ram. 500 GB sata drive. Antec 750 PSU. I've forgot which AMD CPU and video card. Dual DVDs. Trying to find someone who can see to help me put it together.
One guy said he would, but I don't want to listen to his come to jc bs.
