Doe a Deer

The wildlife gods must be smiling on me lately. Yesterday as I was going out the door to work I see this deer standing just in the woodline behind my backyard munching on some brush. I quickly went back inside, got the camera and proceeded to snap as many pictures as the deer let me before it was spooked off by a barking neighbor's dog. The pics are a little grainy due to the poor lighting and slow shutter speed but I was happy to get the ones I did!

Gorgeous shots. I like the second one. The sun is like a spotlight on the deer.

Very nice! It's always hard to get good pix of deer because they're so fast and skittish. Great job!

No, actually I live on a lake in a neighborhood. That's why I thought it so unusual that this deer would be right in my backyard. There are lots of deer in this area because several large state forests border the lake but this is the first time in nearly 10 years living here that I've seen one just calmly walking through the trees in backyards. One more picture, this is right before she got spooked and took flight away from me.

Seems deer love my neighborhood this year. I've been carrying the camera around in the car lately on the lookout for fall foliage pictures so coming home from work yesterday I happened upon these deer right down the street from my house. A momma and her two younguns were happily munching on apples right in a neighbors front yard barely 20 feet from the road! Hardly alarmed at my presence or the flash of the camera, they sauntered off into the wood line after a few minutes.

Excellent!
When I pull in the yard they hardly pay any attention, especially at apple time. As soon as I open the car door, they're history.
