Oh and.... how could I forget?

Practically my first female crush. Excepting the Bangles of course.
(Damn - gotta find a song from them now too...)

Roam sneaks in under the radar, being 1989.
I love Love Shack of course, but this was always "my" song.
To the extent that everyone who knew me, thought about me when it came on.
That's teen success right there.

Shit - these aren't ballads are they?
But I just flat adored them, to the extent I sing them in the shower or the emplty house to this day. It's harder to be winsome when you're overweight and over 30, but indulge me... please?

Susanna Hoffs - melt. Michael Steele, double melt fantasy

Michael Steele was always my favorite Bangle for no particular reason. So tall and unique looking.

The Bangles suffered when all (?) their singles were written by other people. They could write a fine single themselves and must have lost huge millions of dollars by recording everyone else's songs. "Going Down to Liverpool" was originally a Katrina and the Waves song.

D'oh! I though the guy from Spandau was the guy from Ultravox - I always confuse those two.

I will reference this as why, as an 80's couple, Pete and I went with a bluegrass band for our wedding.

Original release in the 80's
This is the 2000 version. He's still so handsome.

The song I half-remember is driving me crazy.
In fact I only remember about 0.01% of it, hence the craziness.

So here is some T'Pau.
I remember where I was when I first heard this song (in the cinema) and was blown away. A woman TALKING and SINGING! And she has gorgeous red hair! Wow. Many of my fave 80s songs are to do with crushes on female singers I'm afraid

I knew this album by heart, anyway

So this one isn't a lady - just has an 80s mullet.
Never saw the video - nowhere to see it really.
But I listened to the radio every day (still do, just not music radio) and I adored this song. We went on a school trip to Alton Towers (theme park) and it came on when we were on the coach. I was convinced it was an omen. My favourite waste of time was on the coach in front. Well, it took 4-5 years, but the omen proved right... I did snog him.
