July 8th, 2018: Angry Baby

Quote:
When President Donald Trump arrives in London for his long-overdue state visit on July 13, he will have competition for the title of biggest baby in the UK. The city’s mayor, Sadiq Khan, recently approved a request for the flight of a 6-meter-tall inflatable blimp caricaturing the hot-headed American leader that will linger above Parliament during his visit.

Quote:
Garnering over 10,000 signatures and over £17,300 in fundraising, the so-called “angry baby” balloon has gained enough support to catch the Mayor’s attention. Khan’s office released a statement about angry baby Trump: “The mayor supports the right to peaceful protest and understands that this can take many different forms.”

In an opinion piece for Metro, the baby’s creator, Leo Murray, points out that the balloon will certain have “tiny hands and a malevolent, constipated expression on his face.” In photos of the blimp, you can also spot a small cellphone clutched in the baby’s right hand.

Quote:
With the city’s permission, the blimp can be flown for two hours, but cannot go any higher than 30 meters off the ground; it will be grounded in Parliament Square Garden. The angry baby’s display will coincide with a protest march in London. Afterwards, the protest group tells Politico that they intend to take baby Trump on a world tour.

Slim chance it'll fly on the 13th, but a good effort anyway.

Bad political haircuts? Donald and Boris are but rank amateurs.
For that genuine dilapidated thatched cottage look, I give you Michael Fabricant, Member of Parliament for Lichfield, Staffordshire.

Opinion is divided.

He maintains that it isn't, but it's been said that he has a number of wigs of different lengths to give the appearance of growth.
The question that remains unanswered is why is he never seen in the same room as Boris Johnson?
I think we should be told.

Yes, it's Cockney rhyming slang, ie syrup of fig = wig.

An alternative is 'an Irish', ie Irish jig.

I hesitate to get too deeply involved in these threads, if at all, but I thought that this might be worthwhile posting.

It's from this morning's issue of the Bucks Herald which isn't, it must be said, a noted journal of record.

Rude message to Donald Trump appears as a crop circle on Stoke Mandeville farm

The message has rather a naughty word in Russian, followed by Trump.

Speaking to the farm owner, the crop circle has been manufactured as part of an art installation.

It appears on the flight path that Donald Trump will take from London to Chequers this Thursday.

The owner of Moat Farm in Stoke Mandeville said: "I was approached by an artist, who wished to remain anonymous to use one of my crop fields.

"They were specifically looking for one in the flight path that Donald Trump will take when he comes to the UK this week.

"There was a financial transaction, I won't say how much but it was renumeration for the damaged crops, which won't be salvageable."

When asked his feelings on Trump, the owner remained neutral however.

"A lot of people have asked me this, but my thoughts on Trump are completely neutral. For me it was a transaction between myself and the artist."

The installation appeared overnight on Sunday.

It's 200m wide, and the photos are from 400ft in the air taken by drone.

Trump will be able to see it from the left window of his helicopter on the way to Chequers.

It took over 14 hours to do in sweltering heat, according to sources.
Unless they know something about the route from London to Chequers that I don't, the line of flight will stop short of Stoke Mandeville by about three miles and the 'artist' will have laboured in vain.

No doubt all will become clear in the fullness of time.

The farmer made some money off it; so, I think Trump would approve either way.
