The bad news is, Minifob was especially hyper last night.

The good news is, I got a nice video clip of it, so I can show it to him someday when he has children.

And you know, since I got it, I figure I might as well share:

Bad news: my younger brother hit a patch of ice this morning and flipped his truck.

Good news: he's OK, thank whomever I'm supposed to thank. Whew.

Bad news: I'm turning into my grandmother and am thinking of calling him and telling him NOT to haul the wife and kids to Michigan for Thanksgiving. I'm becoming a worrier!

Glad he's ok, Shawnee... black ice sure ain't something to mess around with! Did the truck survive at all or was it a write-off?

Crap, he sent pics but they're in Word format and I can't get them to go into any other format.

He's lucky he walked away. It's a total loss.

So he made an ad to go with the pics, which reads: 2005 F-150, 38k. One owner. Could use a wax job and it's a bit drafty on windy days. Other than that she's a beauty.
He's asking 5 bucks.

Trucks can be replaced...He was doubly lucky because after he crawled out the passenger side another vehicle hit that patch of ice...he felt the wind as it flew by him into a tree. There were, luckily, no serious injuries.

Is it dumb to cry over what could have happened, because I did after I got off the phone with him last night...he's OK but was scared. I'm very thankful this Thanksgiving.

Arghh! A nephew-in-law just died - died! - in a one-truck rollover. Stranger though I be, I am very happy to hear that the same sort of wreck did not kill another. They believe NIL was trying to avoid hitting a deer. New ramp on the road and many deer seen, some hit, along there lately.
PS: And why are trucks so lethal in rollovers, or is it just that the sort of cluster that leads to one thinking so?

Lower safety requirements than cars + larger vehicle with higher center of gravity.

I never felt safe driving the truck. I drove it ultra-carefully with a lot of lead time for braking and slow turns.

And this is why I stick to my 97 Pontiac Grand Am GT sports coupe. Low center of gravity, great shocks and handling, good brakes (although the lines need replaced soon), generally an all around reliable car. Especially since she's got less than 90K miles on her.

We moved to Texas last year. Best count so far: 16 pickup trucks and our lone car in a parking lot. We'd had trucks, both mini and full scale, but no need of one now... too easy to borrow one around here!
