Gettin Old is very strange

I hit 60 very soon and I'm starting to feel it, not only the recent health problems but my memory these days seems to be shot to shit.
The other night I went to log into the Cellar and I could not for the life of me remember my password, so much so that I exceeded the log on attempts and was frozen out for a while.
I have been to the Doctor he did some test questions but seemed unconcerned that there was any deeper problem other than age.
That may well be the case but it's a real pain in the arse

I'm just glad you remembered it and are still with us!

Cellar users never die... they just forget their password ! ~ ah if that were only the case ~

What other complaints... I'm 7 years behind you and right now it's hip and shoulder joints slowly failing...

You're not that old. How is your sleep? What meds are you on? Both can affect your memory. Check listed side effects of any meds you are on for memory problems. My sister complained of that when she was on a certain med, I forget which one.

Sleep disorders, lack of deep, regular sleep can really fuck with your memory. Your doctor sounds like a douche who just wants to bill for an office visit while phoning in his diagnosis.

It is a lesson first learned from wrestling. Mental abilities can change significantly day to day. One dominate factor is nutrition. Mental abilities are affected by what was consumed yesterday and some days before.

You cannot know / feel how those abilities change. Obtain an external benchmark. For example, I use FreeCell (on Windows computers). Every game is winnable. Losses are mostly due to diminished subconscious activity. Multiple losses in FreeCell suggests a subconscious mind does not discover solutions - is not fully functional.

That's a best time to find a good salad bar. Eat a little of everything offered. I don't know what I am missing. But it must be in there somewhere. That solution results in FreeCell victories a next day.

Do monitor this. My Dad is on memory meds now and they arrested his drop in capacity but what was lost is lost.

I'm 60. Have been now for four months. My mom didn't live this long. My dad is an asshole and is older than I am now. Some stuff is great, like, my brain works and stuff. How's yer willie? Mine is indifferent. Responsive if not always reliable.

I have a lot of hair in my nose, and in my brush. And in other places where I don't really need or want hair.

How's all this for you?

It should also be worth mentioning that I had a date tonight with a sometime paramour. I'm five years younger than her father. I'm not proud of that. Oh, wait...yes...yes, I am.

We saw "Hidden Figures". Not a great film, but a solid, good film. Good family film if you are raising a family of racially tolerant nerds.

A few things are different for sure. Whats with these hairs in my ears? Never had to trim my eyebrows before. Use Viagra the 2nd time instead of the 4th. I take more pills than VanCamps has beans. Its Ok because I stir in a capful of white stuff in my coffee every morning. Yum.

When I get older losing my hair
Many years from now
Will you still be sending me a valentine
Birthday greetings, bottle of wine?

If I'd been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door?
Will you still need me
Will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?

You'll be older too
And if you say the word
I could stay with you

I could be handy mending a fuse
When your lights have gone
You can knit a sweater by the fireside
Sunday mornings, go for a ride

Doing the garden, digging the weeds
Who could ask for more?
Will you still need me
Will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?

Every summer we can rent a cottage on the
Isle of Wight, if it's not too dear
We shall scrimp and save
Grandchildren on your knee
Vera, Chuck, and Dave

Send me a postcard, drop me a line
Stating point of view
Indicate precisely what you mean to say
Yours sincerely, wasting away

Give me your answer, fill in a form
Mine forever more
Will you still need me
Will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?
Hoo!
