May 5, 2010: Face Transplant

The other day, in Madrid, they announced they've completed the first full face transplant. It'll be awhile before we see pictures of that one, if it's successful, but they have just shown a 2/3 face transplant they did in Seville last January. This guy was the tenth face transplant world wide.

Quote:
A Spanish man who underwent a partial face transplant in January has appeared in public for the first time, hugging his surgeon and thanking the donor's family. The patient, identified only as Rafael, spoke in a labored voice Tuesday at a news conference at the Seville hospital where he underwent surgery. The patient's age was not given. Doctors replaced the bottom two-thirds of his face because of a congenital disease that left it deformed with benign tumors.

I am loving the expression on the wife's (or mother's) face.

Not exactly thrilled.
