Here's a project even clumsy folk could do, it would just take longer
Of course if you use the good silver you may be murdered.

It's pretty cool.

It reminds me of those easy steps for drawing something.

First draw a circle, then draw a line through the circle horizontally, then draw two eyes on that line, then finish the Mona Lisa.

Sunday before last, I was at Twil's place and noticed the cat lounging on a table on the patio. This was kind of unusual, since he's an indoor cat. I asked about him and learned that it was ok because he was wearing a harness to which a leash was attached and at the end of the leash was a bell so he could be found should he get away. Hm. Ok. Well, he spooked and bolted back into the house, hauling that leash and bell behind him.

You know those outdoor yard art pieces? The ones made from recycled oil drums and other sheet metal and rebar, etc? Big roosters, goats, pigs, fanciful birds, etc? I got a couple for Twil for her birthday, a goat and a rooster. She liked them, yay. Well, as the cat was streaking through the house, the bell hooked around the leg of the sheet metal goat. Jasper, the cat, is a young, healthy, strong tom and he started dragging this goat behind him. I'm sure he was terrified, it sounded like the hammers of hell, SLAM! BAM! CRASH!!! As he tore through the house, chased by this goat, the goat collected the blanket hanging off the back of the couch. Jasper next tried to escape up the stairs, got about halfway up and fell off. The cartoon sheet/blanket covered ghost goat was right behind him. We caught up with him about the time he was stuck in the doorway.

I felt terrible and reached down to rescue him, and that was my (near) fatal mistake. I took hold of his harness and he took hold of my hand.

MOTHERFUCKER.

He bit me twice, one minor one and one crunchy, full leverage, I'm gonna die, but die fighting one. The two larger wounds are here, one was a tear about 3/8" long and the other was just a round puncture about 1/4", who knows how deep, how long are his canines anyhow?

I ran the tap on the wounds and then scrubbed them with qtips soaked in alcohol, but the round one wouldn't let me fit the qtip into it. The different rates of healing show how much cleaner I got one than the other.

The tear. You can see my little fat cells. This one I feel is the most serious, as I still have a patch on the top of my thumb that is numb.

The puncture. I squeezed and squeezed and I cleaned it the best I could, but access to this one was much more restricted compared to the tear.

The next morning. My hand is swollen and inflamed and painful.

The next afternoon. I had bandaged it up and then wore work gloves when I mowed the lawn (and fucked up and subsequently fixed the mower, chronicled elsewhere). You can see the outline of the bandage. Interestingly, I had a bruise the next day that followed the outline of the bandage.

I still had to work, but my strength was reduced, I had a hard time gripping with my right hand. The swelling was pretty bad, my knuckles were slight dimples on my right hand. Here they are side by side.

Still some swelling. I've been cleaning them pretty vigorously every day, I want them to heal from the bottom up. If they scab over on the top, I'm afraid any infection will lead to an abscess. There was some pus on the round wound, no real evidence of any on the tear. The two small ones, minor scratches (from his teeth, of course) also have some infection, but it's very shallow. You can see the outlines of the bandages I use to keep them clean while at work. Outside of work I take the bandages off. I want them to get more air.

Here we are nine days later. The swelling and inflammation are both reduced, the pain is practically all gone except directly on the wounds. I've returned to normal work duty.

I didn't go to the doctor, though I read later that cat bites are notoriously dangerous and should be seen by a doctor. I felt there was nothing the doctor could do that I hadn't done already, clean it, close it, watch it, treat for pain. Of course, the doctor can prescribe antibiotics, and they might have helped more than the dab of Neosporin I used the first day, but it turned out not to be needed.

I will eventually heal, but I'll always have the memory of the goat from hell chasing that damn cat all over the house! A fair trade.

I'm glad it worked out and healed without antibiotics.

Geez, I'm sorry about your finger...

and thumb
and palm
and hand
and wrist
and arm
and shoulder
and lawnmower

Next time, for Gawd's sake, just have some nice lass kiss it,
so you can avoid going through all that pain and rehab.

"Shop cougar" was the first thing that popped in my mind.

Then I thought:
No, that wouldn't be right. Real cougars are tan.
