I swear, the hottest food I've ever eaten has been African.
And I can eat curries (as in Indian dishes) hot enough to make me cry. Twice - going in and coming out. Not saying I enjoy them that hot, but I can get them down my neck if I've made the wrong choice in ordering.

Lunch today was so bland.
(ties in with Indian theme - haha)

Supermarket white bread - bought because Mum wanted it as comfort food - toasted cheese sandwich.
Okay, the cheese was Tickler, which is a rather nice mature (sharp) cheddar. But not my usual fare when I'm eating.

Mum's was even blander. Egg & soldiers. I made mine and Dad's, but Mum made her lunch herself, as she doesn't trust me with eggs. She's right not to. Despite the complex dishes I can prepare, I've never been proud of my egg cooking abilities. And it's a bit like making tea anyway - everyone has a preference. I can't even cook eggs to my own preference, but if I've gone to the bother of cooking them I close my eyes and scoff them down anyway.

Carnitas as a burrito. So good. Pork butt, onion, spices, tomato paste, water, overnight on low in the crockpot. Turn it off in the moring, let it cool, remove much of the fat from the top, shred, enjoy.

I had a free lunch yesterday.
I was amazed - it went through the till, then I was told it was free on promotion. I was SO happy.
Chargrill flavour chicken breast, Peri Peri creme fraiche, sliced jalapenos and baby leaf spinach.

The only problem is, I am now convinced every time I go in there I will get free food. I have to disabuse myself of that notion.
The other problem is, when I got back I realised I hadn't completely removed my practice make-up. For Halloween doncha know. So there is a slim possibility that the lady serving saw me as a battered woman and simply cancelled the transaction.

It wasn't as outre as this [Cellar post], which is why I forgot that particular cheek. But it did look like I'd been on the wrong end of a knuckle sandwich.

Made my flipping day though.

Peanut butter cookies. In the oven as I type.

The old standby:

1 cup peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg

Mix, roll, smash, 8-10 @ tree-fiddy.

maters, eggplant, okra. Stewed with 1 can Rotel, mushrooms, leftover cabbage and a bit of pulled pork. Lipton onion soup, with too damn much crushed red pepper for my drink.
