I've got it! It's some pieces of wood!

Whatta ya want, "the wood I had around behind my shed that had spiders under it and then I built a treehouse out of it" ???

It's some wood you had bundled up with your steel strapping machine, and then you unstrapped it and took a picture of it?

I agree with Clodfobble. I think the tape should be the focus, and the 2x8 boards are distracting us.

Is it a layout for rafters?

Yeah, the marks have been irking me, too. It seems obvious enough they must be some sort of guide, but I can't really tell if they match the taper in the pieces of wood. That is the other thing to me; the second and third shots show splitting the boards into wedge shapes which form the arc visible in the first photo.

Well, BigV, are you making a really, really BigFan?

I think that the boards are straight. The arc is an optional illusion.

At first I thought you were finally getting around to showing how you built your kayak, and this was just before ripping strips to form the hull & deck, but you wouldn't be doing big long taper cuts like that. So I have no idea.

Are you making a big circular picnic table?

You could be right (I originally dismissed the appearance in picture #1 as such), but the second and third photos do show trapezoidal pieces. They also seem to indicate a spread in the border of the marks on the patio.

Maybe in post 124 that's true, but post 127 is clearly tapered.

Not optical illusion; optional illusion. It's not for everyone.

And is it an Ark or an arc?

With the exception of the split board, I think that they are all straight 2x8 or 2x10s.

Hmmm, I just don't know about this one. However, I do have a mental image of BigV wringing his hands while chuckling evilly as we all go nuts trying to figure it out.

Fish eye lense camera. Straight boards. Looks like fencing. They all split like that when you pull them off to replace them. Who knows.
