What is this? No, really, what is it? Cuzz I don't know. In all my doings with computers, I've never heard it referred to, and I've never used it. What is it, and, what does it do?

While we're at it, what's the 'pause/break' key for?

I'd hazard a guess that the first one is a planetarium.

As far as the second one goes, possibly horse tack. Martingale?

Hey Carruthers--

First pic -- Nope.

Second pic -- half credit for horse tack, but that's a bit too easy given my recent clues about such shenanigans. I am looking for a much more specific answer. I actually didn't know until last night, and I was holding it in my hand. Not a martingale--those are much straighter. This has a definite twist / bend to it, illustrated by how I'm holding it.

Good evening/morning BigV.

(1) I'll have a stab at something in the nuclear industry.

(2)Part of the bridle? Cheek pieces possibly, your fingers representing the bit?
I only have experience of English tack, so I'm probably wide of the mark.

Guessing a radome in first pic...or something to do with water treatment?

Second pic - Do stirrups hang from these?

#1 looks like what an imax looks like without a theater around it, from the back end.

#2 ... two buckles is too many for that to be part of a bridle, the looped, unbroken ends make it not something to hold a bit, anyway. I'm wondering, though if they might be part of driving harness? something from near the back end, to guide the reins or something like that.

I want to say the first one is from somewhere in that Air & Space (?) museum in Seattle. Don't know why, but I immediately thought of it.
