Who invented Rock and Roll?

I know, I know evolutionary process...

But if you had to point at one band or performer who would it be?

The big 3 were Elvis, Chuck and Little Richard, i guess.

Chuck brought the guitar forward, though, and to me... THAT's rock-n-roll.

So... it was actually Marty McFly

I would say Fats Domino.. I had an album from him from the 50s but it was not the original MONO record,it was "RECORDED IN STEREOPHONIC SOUND" and it sounded horrible.. I got rid of it........

If a record is mono,LEAVE IT MONO!!!!!!!!!

If I can find it again IN MONO like it was recorded,I may get it again.... Most all Fats albums are highly priced!! ($30 or more)

The One I had was called "This is fats domino" with a red cover......

discogs.com/release/2755047

The fact that this is not obvious is the really interesting part.

This almost always comes down to the guitar, or the drums.

I'm not a guitar player, so I don't know what the "qualifiers" are, in sound or technique. What are they?

For drums, I would say it's 1) straight--not swung--8th notes, and 2) heavily accented snare on the 2 and 4.

...

I think it would be BOTH of these. If you're playing "rock guitar" over a shuffle, that's blues. If you're playing a backbeat to a big band, that's jazz.

I don't have a vote, I'd just like to remind everyone of the fun fact that "rock'n'roll" was originally slang for fucking. It would be like if an entire genre of music were called "horizontal mambo."

"Oh man, I saw an awesome horizontal mambo show this weekend."
